How Long Does It Take for Hair to Fall Out After IPL?
How long does it take for hair to fall out after an IPL hair removal session?
IPL hair removal system works by targeting the melanin using high-intensity light. The concentrated beam penetrates below the surface of the skin and damages the dark pigment, ultimately destroying the hair follicle as well. However, in contrast with other known treatments such as the laser-based method, IPL treatment does not vaporized hair.
After an IPL session, the damaged hair follicles will not fall out in an instant. They remain in the skin and usually; they get attached to the outermost layer of the skin or also known as the epidermis. As this layer renews, the damaged hair follicles are being pushed out which usually gives an impression that hairs are growing back. However, within one to two weeks, the hair will naturally fall out of the skin.
How can you tell if an IPL hair removal procedure has worked?
Often, patients expect instant results. After a day or two, they get confused. Fortunately, some signs can tell you whether the procedure had worked or not.
After the session, you will notice red rings around the follicles. It is a good sign that IPL had successfully destroyed the hair follicles. After a day, they will become loose, and you can painlessly and effortlessly pull them out using tweezers.
How many sessions do you need to undergo to see satisfying results?
Although you can see a noticeable difference in your hair growth after the first treatment, experts recommend doing at least five IPL sessions to achieve satisfying results. However, if you want permanent hair removal, you need to undergo 12 sessions with a month’s interval.
